What is a “Giclée” print? top
A Giclée print is the finest quality of digital printing available. Giclée printing is a skill learned over time. Giclée is a French term meaning something is being sprayed on. Its printing technology is similar to that of inkjet printers; however, there are important differences that make a Giclée print the finest quality. When “spraying” ink from the printing nozzle, the ink measures approximately one millionth of the diameter of a hair! The nozzles of the printer vibrate over crystal, like a quartz. Giclée printers can have 4, 6, 7, 8 and even 12 colors! Traditional printing only offers 4. The range of color is higher, which produces prints in their true color and vibrancy. Giclée prints use pigments and not dyes. This essential component insures lasting reproductions.
